Nicola Schellander is the award-winning designer behind this innovative young company that specializes in bespoke glass design for today's interior market.
During her 14 years of working with glass, she has worked as Senior Designer for Edinburgh Crystal and also more recently, Dartington Crystal as well as with a number of renowned glass artists, studios and factories.
Nicola's specialist glass design skills and manufacturing experience have enhanced the understanding and harmony between the craftsmanship of hand-made objects and the manufacturing process, producing products that are both cutting edge, tactile, refined and sophisticated.
Her creative inspiration comes from working directly with manufacturers and craftsmen to develop new production processes which inspires her to design innovative and fresh designs, in a beautiful creative ways.
As well as her passion for designing for industry, she is also a skilled glassmaker, designing and producing her own ranges. Having now established her own company, this young business is now set to expand into more extravagant lighting and interior products.
Her interest in the structural and spatial qualities of glass with references drawn from anatomy and architecture, create deeply carved and highly sculpted studio pieces that explore space and form.
Her aim is to fuse traditionalism with fresh, contemporary ideas, through new ideas and technologies. Ideas evolve through using various handcrafted and manufacturing techniques, often with a playful and whimsical look at either the conventions of a product or the way it is intended to be used.
She is currently also studying part-time towards a Phd in Design Innovation in Glass.
