Maker's Statement:
Inspired by natural forms and 20th century art and architecture, Katy Holford designs one off and limited edition contemporary crystal and glass pieces. Katy works closely with her clients to produce individual pieces appropriate to their specific environments. In her simple and elegant style she draws on a selection of fine materials including crystal, glass and metals to produce stunning, innovative furniture, screens, vases, mirrors, tableware accessories and chandeliers and other lighting.
Katy is prepared to travel nationally and internationally to visit clients, travelling expenses are negotiable and added to the price of the commission.
Katy welcomes studio visits but finds most client prefer her to visit them.
At the present time there is no opportunity for apprenticeships but this may change in the future.
Studio visits are welcome.
Commissioning Procedure
In general all Katy’s pieces are made to order for her clients. Clients can order some items direct from photographs but for larger pieces Katy will discuss the client’s aesthetic and practical requirements and if necessary visit the site. For large scale pieces drawings are presented (a small design fee is charged at this stage) and once the design is accepted the piece is made. Normal lead times are 4 – 10 weeks depending on the complexity of the project and pro forma invoices are issued.
