Maker's Statement:
My inspiration is rooted in the purity of natural form, taking into account the man-made geometry of engineering and architecture. I enjoy every type of challenge, taking the piece from the original concept through the making process to the finished solution. I enjoy the manipulation of silver, using its malleability to produce form, its reflective quality to emphasis line.
In commission work, I draw upon an element significant to my client. Whether it is an entire dinner service constructed around the precise curve of a tail feather of a rare pheasant, a ceremonial mace in spired by the form of an aeroplane wing, or the proportions of a Byzantine dome echoed within a claret jug.
My personal description language is about balance. The ultimate gaol being to achieve the perfect equilibrium between balance and form.
My jewellery is similarly personal. The emotional link between the wearer and the piece defines the materials. Whether I use combinations of coloured golds or platinum, fine quality diamonds or coloured stones, the focus is on the wearer.
Studio visits are welcome.
Commissioning Procedure
The procedure will vary in order to satisfy the specific requirements of the client, the location and the commission, and is discussed and agreed with the client initially. Initial meeting/discussion to define the client's requirements, budget and delivery date. If necessary, sketches are prepared and discussed. Design and Costing is produced and presented by post or at a meeting as appropriate.
Pricing Policy
Any material necessary to fulfil the commission can be used, but primarily metal (mainly precious) is used in conjunction with glass, wood, ceramics and precious stones. Prices will vary with the complexity of construction and value of materials. There is no charge for the initial discussion or sketches. The design cost is included in the total costing unless the commission is competitive, when a negotiable fee is charged.
