'The Caterpillar Rocking chair is visually stunning, a good combination of colour, structure and practicality It has the advantage of being a truly original idea; just as Saarinen and his pedestal chairs converted four chairlegs into one' - Simon Yates (An Encyclopedia of Chairs).

'Jeremy Broun is one of the most innovative and imaginative woodworking communicators in the UK' - Nick Gibbs Good Woodworking magazine 2007.

Maker's Statement:
'Heirlooms of desire' might sum up my best work such as the high backed rocking chair, first designed in 1973. I was recently asked to replace the woven cord seat for a client in France after 25 years service. I create both 'one offs' and 'standards' and am a self taught designer, inspired by Scandinavian woodworking traditions and the Bauhaus. I create unusual, visually simple and bold designs. Each piece says something new - perhaps about form, function, material, technique. I tend to use structure as the main aesthetic and enjoy exploring new methods, especially jointing which is unusual in furniture today (eg. Zigzag table).

Applications for apprentices are welcome.

Commissioning Procedure
Commissioning procedure: If you like my particular work you will need to see it in the flesh and the next best thing initially is to request my fully comprehensive CD-Rom This brings alive over 80 original designs for wooden artefacts ranging from chairs, tables and cabinets, to lighting, clocks, trinket boxes and garden rooms. It contains numerous high definition still images of the artefacts with descriptions, video clips on how some of them are made, my favourite timbers and a 'warming up' to the joyous experience of commissioning a special piece. Then a phonecall is welcome.

Pricing Policy
'One off' designs involve a nominal design/consultation fee. A 50% deposit is normally requested with staged payments for larger commissions. My prices range from about £550 for decorative items up to about £10,000 for the most complex artefacts.
£500 to £10,000
