I then started training as a calligrapher - and in 2003 was accepted onto the prestigious Advanced Training Scheme of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators, graduating in 2005. I had been running my business as a professional calligrapher since May 2001. In 2003/4 I had one-to-one lessons in bookbinding and have added hand made books, journals and albums to my client offerings. They can be commissioned for special events and inscribed by hand - I am also a professional calligrapher. I source materials from around the world including hand made papers from Italy and the Far East. Many of my books have plain pages for the commissioning client to add their own content but as a professional calligrapher I also offer wedding albums with inscribed front pages; journals printed with my own calligraphy and illustrations; specialist books such as wine diaries, personalised cookery books, and family record journals. Because I offer calligraphy and illustration as well as book binding I have been commissioned to make a number of individual Visitors books for restaurants and Hotels. In additions to the books, I also can make matching boxes or slip covers to keep them in. Studio visits are welcome. Commissioning Procedure Books can be commissioned in a range of sizes, colours and binding styles - examples shown in photographs. Due to the lengthy process up to 4 weeks must be allowed for design and execution including pressing. All books cna be personalised with calligraphy inscriptions.
