After graduation I entered into business as a graphic/industrial design consultant, but fusing glass was always calling me. My early attempts at stained glass myself proved disappointing. I never liked the dark outline/coloring book feeling created by the leading. While in college I was fortunate to learn of fused glass and developed an independent study to investigate the process. After graduation I entered into business as a graphic/industrial design consultant, but fusing glass was always calling me. On two separate occasions I tried to switch to fusing glass as a full time endeavor, but for various reasons was unsuccessful. Three years ago, I took a class with a well known fusing artist. That class lit a fire that propelled me to pursue fusing glass with total abandon.Currently, I incorporate a dozen technique into my work, and have an imagery uniquely mine. Drawing upon my graphic design background, my pieces are graphic in both content and composition. Although my work primarily encompasses landscape and figurative imagery, I am always trying new imagery and visual concepts. My figurative designs are the ones that speak to me the most. I particularly enjoy the contrast of the softness of the fused figure against the crystal sharpness of the cast backgrounds. I have experimented for about a year and a half with developing the photorealistic quality of the figure. Having mastered this technique, my goal now is to add an emotional component to my work."
