Paul Gower
Paul Gower established his furniture design business in 1992 following graduation from the prestigious Parnham College.
In 1998 he was elected as a Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen. In 2001 his work was further recognised by selection for Designation, a group of leading British based designers.
Paul works both to commission, designing one-off pieces for individual and corporate clients, and speculatively, developing ranges of limited edition accessories for sale through galleries and exhibition venues.
Working mainly in wood, other materials are used to complement and enhance natural textures and colours. Recent work has explored exciting finishing techniques such as sandblasting, bleaching, fuming and metal patination.

Maker's Statement:
The ultimate objective is to fulfill both the functional an aesthetic requirement of my clients.
I aim to design with clarity and simplicity, to create an object that sits comfortably in its surroundings. By concerning ourselves with every detail and using materials of the highest quality we produce furniture to inspire and cherish.
Commissioning Procedure
The Brief:
The starting point is to define the brief. We visit your home or office, take photographs and measurements, gather information about size, function and the setting. We listen carefully to your likes and dislikes and design accordingly. To meet all your needs we must also understand the budgetary constraints and deadlines you want to meet.
The Design:
Initial ideas are presented as perspective sketches or 3D models. These form the basis for agreeing final designs and providing a firm quote. For large scale projects we can offer fully rendered CAD modelling.
The Making:
Only once designs are agreed and budget is fixed do we proceed with the making. The majority is completed in our Abbotsbury workshops but for larger projects we work with a network of craftspeople and suppliers
