Zoe Gadsby
I spent my early years in Hong Kong and returned to Scotland in the 1980’s. Having graduated from the Environmental Art Dept. at Glasgow School of Art in 1995, my early installation work explored light and colour and was influenced by meditational and experiential art. A further 2 years of study in Architectural and Kiln Formed Glass from 1998 -2000 were a natural progression of this photography and sculpture based work.

Maker's Statement:
I like to explore and manipulate glass’s transformational qualities using vivid, luminous colour that powerfully engages the senses and abstraction through geometric form. Simple geometric symbols and complex geometric patterning reflect naturally occurring chaotic forms fused with high-tech. circuitry, microscopic photography of viruses, cells and even atoms.
Studio visits are welcome.
Commissioning Procedure
Kiln Formed Glass
Prices range from £200 - £500 for kiln formed bowls, lights, tiles, splash-backs and wall hangings. Zoe's glass is exhibited in a variety of galleries throughout Scotland or can be commissioned to suit a client's particular wishes including changes in size and colour for example.
Architectural, Leaded and Fused panels
Zoe makes leaded glass to commission, usually meeting with the client in person for an initial discussion before coming up with working designs. A range of price options will be discussed before any contract of work is signed, when a 50% deposit will be required.
Prices start off at £600 per metre sq. and increase with level of complexity of design and/or use of additional techniques inc. fusing, acid-etching, sandblasting and painting.
The aim is to unite the ideas of the client in terms of subject matter, symbols, colours and themes with Zoe's particular artistic and stylistic approach or vision. A unique art work will be created every time.
